GONG! Kicks Off Open Beta @ the ToyCon2008

18 06 2008

Manila, PhilippinesIt was a circus of sword wielding schoolgirls, pirates, mechas, spandex donning superheroes, and a leather clad pseudocelebrity known only as “Hard Gay”.

Yes, it’s that time once again when hobbyists and aficionados alike parade their most priced toys in one intergalactic event – the Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention. Like one big children’s party for kids of all ages, the ToyCon –as it is popularly known—is a celebration of the sense of wonder inherent in everyone.

And since mobiusgames is more than just games, we were there to represent the fastest growing recreational industry: online games.

As part of the grand kick-off planned for GONG! as it enters into its Open Beta stage, mobiusgames treated ToyCon participants to free games of GONG! – the hilarious new game from mobiusgames and Tose Shanghai.

It was a riot! Testers cheered in delight, teased each other, and generally had a great ball-kickin’ time as they go head-to-head against each other or GONG! NPC’s in matches that were in turns intense, bizarre, and cute.

More than that, mobiusgames gave away several game installers, and gift certificates too which players can use to redeem GONG! Coins as soon as the game enters its commercial release.

GONG! merchandise, and exclusive items were raffled off too much to the delight of convention participants.

“This… is just AMAZING!” one cosplayer gushed after she and her friends got to try GONG! in the gaming stations mobiusgames provided for. “Hello, sleepless nights!” she joked.

“There’s nothing like it!” another one exclaimed. “It’s soccer, pero super cute!”

mobiusgames representatives were all surprised at the overwhelming response and demand for game installers that they had no choice but to redirect people to the download page of our website after we ran out of installers for giving away.

“We weren’t expecting this much positive reaction!” Siege Malvar of mobiusgames said. “We knew kids would love this game, but look at that!” he said, gesturing to the long queue of excited gamers, composed of variously attired cosplayers, toy hobbyists, and anime fanatics. “Man, this is just…wow.”

“It’s terrific seeing how much everyone enjoys playing GONG!,” smiled product manager Imo Ong. “They get so completely into it and they yell instructions, cheer, scream, curse, and groan like they’re in a real match. It’s really involving, and I’ve yet to see anyone not enjoy a match.”

Everyone who tried it all agreed: GONG! is bound to kick the casual gaming field up to a whole new level!
